Shana's Two Cents

by Shana Roberts

Photograph of Roxy working magic at CES meeting Hi ya'll, I'm going to do a little review of the program we had the other night with Roxy and Donna, who came in from Trenton NJ to give us a little guidance with makeup and wigs.

Truth be told, there is a lot of good advice that Roxy gave. At first glance, not everyone may agree with a lot of what she said, but if you take the time to go into the bathroom and try out some of the techniques she outlined, you WILL notice a considerable difference. Now, I know old "miss raccoon eyes" here (couldn’t help it, someone yelled that at me the other night) isn’t the one you may want to take any makeup advice from, but believe me, I don’t go to the mall with them eyes!

First of all, let's back up a second and figure out where most of us get our ideas of what a properly dressed woman should look like.

TV (no pun intended :-), magazines, catalogs, advertisements, women at the mall? Magazines (Cosmo and People for example) and catalogs are good sources since you can clip the stuff out.

Try to find a GG role model that has looks similar to yours. I picked Winona Judd as my role model (now if I could just sing like her!). Red hair and a little on the heavy side.....yep, that be me.

Now let's review some of the topics Roxy touched on.

Beard Concealer

All of us should use it unless you have had your beard removed via laser treatments or electrolysis. The stuff Roxy sells is fine if you want to drive to Trenton or order by mail. I use Dermablend leg cover, which you can get at Hecht's, and I use it as a concealer and foundation. The stuff is good - good enough for an 18 hour day. Those who have seen Todd know what a good job it does.
