Five Very Special Dresses

by Rosemary McQueen

Photograph of Rosemary McQueen Sometimes it is fun to engage in fantasy and pretend that I am back in the time when my older sister used me as a little sister or doll and dressed me in her clothes and played with dolls or house with me as most little girls do. This made a lasting impression on me that is so deep seeded that it is impossible to erase. My wife and I have a collection of dolls ranging from a baby doll to a large American Girl Doll. We also have a doll carriage, a crib, and a high chair for our dolls.

Sometime ago I saw a very cute dress in a catalogue that was for a teenage girl and was a plus size. I am five foot six inches so I can fit into some girl dresses. It took me a while to get the courage to send for this dress because it was very feminine and so forbidden. I could no longer resist and I ordered it. When it came I wasted no time before I tried it on and to my amazement it fit. I was so pleased! This is still my favorite little girl dress and I will describe it. It is a dress that has a pink background with a floral print of pink and white flowers with little blue leaves and stems. The dress has short puffed sleeves and the dress is adorned with pink satin bows. One on the neck, one on each sleeve and four spaced equally around the hemline. A two inch pink satin belt ties in the back or front in a large bow. I wear this with pink satin slippers or my Mary Jane shoes.
